Biomedical & Biohazardous Waste Disposal in Kelowna
With a population of more than 200,000, Kelowna is one of Canada's true hidden gems. It is nestled on the eastern shore of the beautiful Okanagan Lake in the stunning Okanagan Valley in the southern interior of British Columbia, about 390 kilometers northeast of Vancouver. The city's stunning landscape is studded with provincial parks, pine forest, vineyards, orchards, and mountains. Kelowna’s name derives from an Okanagan language word for "grizzly bear."
Kelowna’s Okanagan Valley is the city's bustling downtown area which incorporates waterfront City Park and a lakeside cultural district. More than 20 local vineyards offer wine tours and tastings, and visitors are also able to enjoy countless local restaurants, craft breweries, cideries, and distilleries. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the many bike trails, visit the historic Myra Canyon Trestles, hike to the top of one of the many surrounding mountains, relax on one of many of the lake's gorgeous beaches, golf at any of the area's 19 golf courses, or take to the lake for endless water sport activities. Anyone who appreciates the "farm to table" experience can visit the numerous farms, orchards, markets, and local restaurants for delicious seasonal produce grown right in the Kelowna area.
Kelowna's weather is fairly unique. It is the cloudiest place in Canada outside Newfoundland during December and January due to a persistent valley cloud resulting from warmer air rising from Okanagan Lake climbing above colder atmospheric air, creating a temperature inversion. Summers in Kelowna are surprisingly hot and sunny, with daytime temperatures often exceeding 32° C with a record high of 41° C.
This town is also home to Kelowna General Hospital (KGH), one of the largest hospitals in Western Canada with more than 700 beds. KGH is operated by Interior Health and is the only hospital outside the Lower Mainland or Vancouver Island that performs angioplasty or cardiac surgery!
