Made in Canada: Spotlighting Our Canadian Leadership

The people who make the place!

When healthcare facilities work with Daniels Health Canada, they see many familiar faces. But behind the scenes, a strong group of leadership drives our mission to make healthcare safer.

The success of Daniels Health Canada wouldn’t be possible without the expertise and dedication of seven outstanding individuals. Their vision and commitment ensure that we serve the Canadian healthcare community effectively while continuously striving to innovate and grow. By overseeing every aspect of our operations, they serve as the backbone of our organization.

Meet the leadership team behind Daniels Health Canada, the people who drive our mission and continued growth across the country.

Daniel Kennedy
Chief Executive Officer

In 1999, Dan partnered with Daniels Health to bring reusable sharps containers to Canada, giving rise to Daniels Health Canada. Under his leadership, the company has expanded to 10 facilities nationwide, with over 300 team members dedicated to safety and sustainability.

By supporting Dan Daniels’ vision, DK continues to drive innovation for sustainable healthcare across Canada.

Culture, hard work, ethics, integrity, servant leadership and an uncompromised commitment to quality are not buzzwords but rather pillars on which we continue to build our business across Canada. Our leaders are smart, experienced and completely dedicated to the success of our business, their teams and most importantly, the customers who we serve.

Michael Cook
Chief Technology Officer

Drawn to the opportunity to make a difference in healthcare, Michael began his journey at Daniels as an IT Director in April 2019 and quickly moved into the CTO role. In just six years, he has grown the global IT team from seven to 27 people. Simultaneously, in 2020, he launched our Global Business Transformation team, which is currently executing Project Roar, one of our largest initiatives in history. This project updates our logistics software to enhance customer experience while supporting our continued growth.

I feel honored and humbled to work with so many people of great character, dedication and enthusiasm at Daniels.

Meaghan Sloan
Director, Sales Operations

Having grown up around the industry, Meaghan has always “known waste.” She began working with Daniels in 2004 through a joint venture and joined the company full-time in 2009. Starting as a waste processor, Meaghan transitioned into administrative and sales roles before finding her home in Sales Operations. She grew a department of one into what is now a 26-person team.

Meaghan played a key role in shaping internal structures across sales administration and has been vital in implementing Daniels’ systems in major healthcare facilities across Canada.

After 16 years at Daniels, living Dan Daniels’ vision every day, I couldn’t imagine being part of a different family.

Amil Hirji
Senior Director, National Operations

Amil joined Daniels just over a year and a half ago, during a time of significant transformation. He focuses on building structure in recruitment, onboarding, training and engagement, especially for our frontline drivers and plant teams. Amil is proud of creating a people-first operational culture that is scalable and sustainable. His initiatives, such as the “Why We Work Safe” picture boards and the “Roaring Fans” recognition campaign, have helped create meaningful change for our operational workers within Daniels.

Daniels gave me the platform to align people with purpose, and that’s precisely what keeps me here.

Gord Snelgrove
Executive Director, Business Development

Gord joined Daniels in 2008 as the sole salesperson in Canada, when the company had just four employees in total. Back then, everyone pitched in, from plant work to installations. Over the years, Gord grew within his role, eventually becoming Executive Director. He has been instrumental in our growth, making us Canada’s largest biomedical waste company.

I am proud to see people grow and develop within the business since I joined Daniels.

Kristina Knezevic
Senior Human Resource Business Partner

Driven by a passion for protecting healthcare workers and the environment, Kristina dove into the biomedical waste sector by joining Daniels. From the start, she was drawn to the challenges of supporting a team operating in a highly regulated, complex space. Through a blend of curiosity and resilience, Kristina has become an integral part of Daniels’ collaborative culture.

My goal is to continue building an environment with our Canadian senior leaders where our employees feel valued, supported and equipped to carry out the important work we do.

Armin Weiss
Director of Finance

In October 2024, Armin began his Daniels journey after reaching a point in his career where he was ready for a completely new direction. With no background in healthcare or waste management, he saw Daniels as the right place to take that leap. Since then, he has contributed to major initiatives such as critical mergers and acquisitions. As Armin puts it, he might have gambled with his job, but he won.

I wanted a team where open discussion is encouraged and the best solutions are shaped through healthy debate – where serious work gets done, but laughter is part of the journey too. I’ve found all of that at Daniels.
